Science can be daunting for many students, as the vocabulary is vast, and the concepts tricky. Yet we as educators must meed the needs of the students where they are. Each student is unique and deserves curriculum that fits their individual needs. Scaffolding is one on the main tools we can use to help each student grow and progress. "Scaffolding is breaking up the learning into chunks and providing a tool, or structure, with each chunk. (Edutopia 2014)"By using a scaffold as a vine uses a trellis, we help our students grow bit by bit to bloom where the are planted. Here, you will find science resources that use this tool often. You will also find differentiated resources for those students who need even more assistance. Welcome!
Distance Learning Activites on the Circulatory SystemDistance Learning // April, 9th, 2020Distance learning is hard. Period. You want your kids to be engaged in fun activities to keep their minds off of this craziness and yet, you also want them to get quality content, all while you are not there to help them.
Nervous System ACTIVITIESDistance Learning // April,14th 2020These activities were created for my diverse mostly 9th grade Biology classes, but could also be used for middle school, if you have more determined kiddos. The nervous system is one that kids have some familiarity with, but can't seem to really describe what it does. This is why I wanted to include some fun, hands-on activities that will help them understand how the nervous system and the body work together to interpret and respond to external and internal stimuli. |
